Bio

Roger "Jake" Vancour is a performer, singer-songwriter, guitarist, and sometimes recording engineer/producer based in Salem, MA. Armed with a wide vocal range and amazing skills on acoustic and electric guitars, Jake plays a variety of rock, folk, blues, pop, jazz, and country cover songs, from the Beatles to Green Day, from Stevie Ray Vaughn to One Direction. In addition, he plays some classical guitar pieces, as well as some original compositions. 

At the age of 9, Jake was featured in a Berklee School of Music video to promote music therapy, and at the age of 13, he started performing publicly at school events and in a church band. He studied guitar for 10 years at All Newton Music School in Newton, MA. 

In January 2019, Jake graduated cum laude from Salem State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Music Technology Certificate. There, he took electric guitar, classical guitar, piano, and voice lessons to improve his abilities. He also learned how to record, mix, and produce digital recordings, and he performed in the Salem State Jazz Band, the Guitar Ensemble, the Chamber Singers, a jazz improvisation group, a jazz/funk group, and a pop group. Jake was a member of the Salem State Music Society, and in February 2016, Jake was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society. 

In addition to singing and playing guitar, Jake also plays keyboards, drums, harmonica, and banjo. He is working towards becoming a composer and multi-instrumentalist.

Jake performs at many venues including, pubs, clubs, restaurants, private parties, country clubs and weddings, including one at the Peabody Essex Museum. Eventually, he wants to become a full-time professional musician, perform at different locations, write his own songs, and record his own albums. Currently, he performs at as many locations as his busy schedule allows.
